I've always wanted to excel in log base 2 on ti83, it seems like there's a lot that can be done with it that I can't do otherwise. I've browsed the internet for some useful learning tools , and consulted the local library for some books, but all the data seems to be directed to people who already know the subject. Is there any tool that can help new students as well?

I remember having often faced difficulties with monomials, sum of cubes and difference of cubes. A really great piece of math program is Algebrator software. By simply typing in a problem from workbook a step by step solution would appear by a click on Solve. I have used it through many algebra classes – Remedial Algebra, Basic Math and Pre Algebra. I greatly recommend the program.
